What To Know About Pile Driver Sales

By Della Monroe

Many types of equipment are employed in construction. Pile driver is an example of these. This is a mechanical device used for driving poles down into soil. Usually this is needed for creating foundational support for various structures, including buildings. Pile driver sales are available through many people and companies around the world. People interested in these should look into all of the specifics before completing a purchase.

With any big purchases, people need to put time and effort into conducting research. They should compare what is available. Consider the make and model, price, condition of a device and more. It is important that the cost fits the quality and condition of the device being sold. People buying from companies might be giving returns or warranties, however not all sellers offer these options.

Traditional drivers utilize heavy weights that are set between guides. This allows for freely sliding down and up in a single line. The heavy weight is raised, which may be done through steam, hydraulics, manual labor or diesel. Once the weight is at its highest level, it is released so it smashes onto the pole and drives it further into the ground.

There are different kinds available today. These include, but are not limited to: vibratory extractor or driver, piling rig, vertical travel lead system, hydraulic hammer, diesel hammer, and hydraulic press-in. Each one has its own use, and pros and cons. Many believe that these devices have existed since the time of the 1400s.

Driving devices from the past utilized animals or manual labor in order to lift and drop the weights that were heavy. Often this was done with use of pulleys. Modern equipment employs a number of different techniques in order to raise weights and then guide the pile.

Diesel hammer refers to a modern devices that has a two-stroke engine and is large. Weight used is called a piston and the device connecting to the top of a pole is the cylinder. The vertical travel lead systems or VTL systems are another option. These were developed around the 1970s and patented by a man named C W Birmingham. This system is ideal for job sites that are level and contain little to no obstructions.

Hydraulic hammer is a new kind used rather than diesels or air hammers. It can drive in timber piles, steel pipe and precast concrete. These are thought to be more friendly to the environment than the older hammers that are not as efficient because of the noise and pollutants they produce. Hydraulic press-ins are speciality devices that install piles utilizing hydraulic rams in order to press poles down to the ground.

Vibratory pile hammer involves eccentric weights. These counter rotate and are powered via hydraulic motors. They are designed to work in a way that vertical vibrations transfer into a pile and the horizontal vibrations cancel. Piling rigs are the construction machines utilized for piling in foundation engineering. The device is primarily applied for drilling various types of clay and soil. Typically it is needed for diaphragms, cast-in-place piles, foundation reinforcement and similar tasks.
